CITTIO Database Monitor centrally monitors database health and business statistics for your SQL databases. By combining deep monitoring with the agentless architecture of CITTIO WatchTower®, Database Monitor takes action on the result of any SQL query using the strong operational model of WatchTower so you can use thresholds, notifications, and role-based dashboards to be proactive instead of reactive.

Database Monitor performs deep monitoring that is more than just a 'ping check' - it actually connects to your databases, runs SQL, analyzes the results, thereby checking the performance of each query. Database Monitor's centralized approach requires far less effort and expertise than setting up separate database agents to perform similar tasks.

Best Practice Template Library

CITTIO Database Monitor provides a library to store best practice templates for performing health checks on your databases, and it comes with pre-built templates for Oracle and PostgreSQL. You configure the templates to define performance management SQL queries, desired result sets and thresholds which, when violated, trigger appropriate notifications, alerts or dashboard updates.

How Database Monitor Works

• Database administrators define and test target database connection strings
• SQL query groups are customized from pre-built templates and associated with target databases
• SQL query groups query the Data Dictionary and System Catalogs for database health or query any database for business statistics you want to monitor
• Powerful substitution variables are available to simplify queries by enabling a single query to loop through multiple databases or schemas
• Query result sets are configured using Boolean expressions including < > = for numeric results or string comparisons for alphanumeric results
• Database Monitor executes query groups monitor response times and results
• Response times and results are analyzed with query result sets to update executive dashboards, business service views, and SLA calculations
• When a test result fails or trips a threshold; WatchTower triggers defined notifications and escalations
